YOUR SESSION STAYS WITH YOU
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026 · GoBack and GoBack PRO
This policy covers GoBack (com.binarybears.goback), GoBack PRO (com.binarybears.goback.pro) and this product website. BinaryBears LLC is the developer and the contact responsible for this policy. For privacy questions, email support@binarybears.com.
The short version: the apps access location to provide navigation and store session information on your watch. They have no account, advertising SDK, Firebase integration or Internet permission. They do not automatically upload your routes or local diagnostics to us.
1. What the apps access
Precise and approximate location are used to establish Start, calculate direction and distance, and support active navigation. Depending on the edition, session records can include coordinates, timestamps, altitude, reported accuracy, checkpoints, recorded positions and navigation telemetry. Compass sensors provide orientation. Battery and device/app information support status displays and local diagnostics.
Location tracking runs as a foreground service during a user-started active session, including when the app is not visible. The apps do not request the separate Android background-location permission. Notification access supports the ongoing activity and quick return to navigation. Vibration is used for feedback.
2. Local storage and retention
Session information is held in an app-private database. Preferences, such as appearance and compass style, are also stored locally. The two editions have separate storage; data is not automatically transferred between them.
- GoBack: active-session data supports recovery. Completed private records can remain on the watch, even though Free does not expose an archive or let you navigate back to a completed Start. Ending a session does not erase those records.
- GoBack PRO: completed excursions and their points remain in the local Archive until you delete them or remove the app's data. Deleting an archived excursion removes its related checkpoints, recorded positions, raw location samples and session telemetry.
Session records are not automatically deleted after a fixed number of days. Separate native diagnostic reports are bounded in size and retained history. Removing a PRO archive entry does not necessarily remove the separate position-free diagnostic report. Android cloud backup and device-transfer rules exclude the apps' data.
3. Diagnostics and analytics
There is no app-integrated remote analytics or crash-reporting service. Local diagnostics can contain technical state and bounded summaries of app exits or responsiveness issues. The separate native diagnostic report is designed to exclude coordinates, user-entered names, identifiers and free-form crash text. Internal development exports may contain precise route coordinates and are not uploaded automatically.
Google Play or your operating system may separately provide developers with platform-managed installation, crash or performance information under their own settings and policies. That is distinct from an analytics SDK in GoBack. We do not use the apps to send route data to those services.
4. Deleting data and permissions
You can revoke location or notification permissions in your watch's app settings; this can prevent navigation or quick access from working. Revoking a permission alone does not erase previously stored data. To remove all local information for an edition, clear its app storage where the watch offers that option, or uninstall that edition. PRO also supports deleting individual archived excursions.
There is no GoBack account or server-side route history for us to delete or recover. Read the local data deletion instructions before proceeding.
5. Purchases and platform services
GoBack PRO is intended as a separate, one-time paid Google Play app. Google handles purchases and payment details; GoBack does not ask for card information. Android and Google Play services supply device location and store functionality under their own settings and policies. See Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Contacting support
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond, troubleshoot and address privacy requests. Do not send passwords, signing keys, payment details or private route exports. Send location-bearing screenshots or diagnostics only if you intentionally choose to share them.
Correspondence is handled through our email service providers. It is retained as necessary to deal with the request and relevant legal obligations. You can ask us to delete correspondence we hold; some records may need to be retained where the law requires it. We do not sell your personal information.
7. Website delivery and cookies
This static website does not include advertising, analytics scripts, embedded video players, remote fonts, account forms or application cookies. Following an external link or sending an email takes you to a separate service.
Hosting and security infrastructure, including Cloudflare when this site is delivered through it, may process technical request data such as IP address, requested URL, browser information and time of access to deliver and protect the site. Security features may use essential cookies. These technical requests are not GoBack route uploads. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for its processing and international-transfer information.
8. Security and your choices
Android's app sandbox limits access to private local storage. No device or storage system is completely secure; protect access to your watch and any exports you make. We cannot remotely retrieve, restore or erase a route that exists only on your device.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of personal information we hold, and to complain to a data protection authority. Contact support@binarybears.com to make a request. Information stored only on your watch is managed through the local controls described above.
For support correspondence and site security, information is used to answer your request and operate a secure service, and to meet applicable legal obligations. Hosting and email providers may process information outside your country under their applicable safeguards. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and address it.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the apps, website or data practices change. The date above identifies the current text.
